This mountain village is located in a fertile valley, near the steep sides of the Andes Mountains.

Land is rich in vegetation, farming areas are very common. The village is surrounded by rivers: the River Chillán, the River Diguillín and the River Renegado. 

  The village is 70 kilometres from Chillán. Scenery is spectacular, it is a place with beautiful views and natural features. You can see trees, plants, waterfalls, cliffs, forests and an imposing volcano (the Chillán Volcano). There are frequent falls of snow in the winter.

You can visit several tourist attractions, such as Lake Huemul (Laguna del Huemul). The waters of this lake are bright green. From this place you can see the whole of the valley and some wild birds (condors and wild ducks).

Shangrilá is a very beautiful place where you can find volcanic rocks, waterfalls and the famous “Cristo de Palo” (the Wooden Christ, it is a withered tree shaped like a Christian cross).

  “La Cascada del Soldado” (“the Soldier's Cascade”) is a 100 metres high waterfall, it is surrounded by orchids and oaks.

“The Pincheiras” Cave is a place of historical interest. It is in the way to a famous ski resort (“Termas de Chillán”). “The Pincheiras” Cave is a large hole in the side of a hill,. It was the refuge of a legendary group of looters (the Pincheiras), who plundered the city of Chillán in 1819. Many stories are told about them, the stories are told by tourist guides who wear historical costumes and perform plays (theatrical representations of the historical events that took place in the 19th century).

“Termas de Chillán” is one of the best ski resorts in Southamerica. It is located in the Andes Mountains. There are 28 ski tracks (28 snow fields), including “Las Tres Marías”, a 13 km ski track.  Skiers and snowboarders who visit this resort can take an helicopter to travel over wide areas and have panoramic views.

  Activities include climbing rocks, mountain bike riding, excursions, ascents to the Chillán Volcano, horse riding and relaxing baths (“Termas de Chillán” is also a spa resort).

People who visit this valley can spend their time in a new mountain resort: “Complejo Turístico Los Trineos” (it is 15 minutes from the ski resort). This mountain resort consists of six huts, six car parks (parking lots), a cafeteria and a swimming pool.
